Immanuel Academy Teaches Classically
CLASSICAL EDUCATION?— by Rev. William C. Heine—
Building on a Solid Foundation
Immanuel Academy builds on what is taught in Martin Luther Grammar School.
MLGS deals primarily with the curiosity stage of learning which uses the grammar approach to teaching and the analytical stage which uses the dialectic (question and answer) approach to teaching. If you have an opportunity to observe in the classroom at Martin Luther Grammar School, you will notice a method of instruction that actively involves students in learning the material (as opposed to a passive methodology like lecturing or observing).
As the year progresses, the children will not only be able to perform basic skills, but, more importantly, the children will be able to recall vast amounts of information from memory as though it were second nature to them. In the upper grades they will be able to explain the ideas that under gird their knowledge. By year's end, I promise that you will be amazed at their knowledge (perhaps even surpassing your own in some areas).
Immanuel Academy adds Logic and eventually Rhetoric to the Grammar of MLGS.
